Shamila Subramaniam has been a litigator for more than 21 years and has extensive experience in civil and criminal litigation. Shamila’s present portfolio consist mainly in complex insurance litigation matters and other forms of civil, criminal, land, banking, and family litigation.
Shamila was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1999 and Brunei Bar in 20o9. Shamila’s forte is in handling defence assignments for personal injury claims for accident at workplace/ industrial accident and personal injury claims involving motor vehicle accidents and fire insurance claims. She has an ability to get grips with large volumes of material very quickly and has exceptional organizational skills. Shamila is an experienced trial lawyer and has appeared frequently in the Malaysian and Bruneian courts for numerous cases and at the Appellate levelL Shamila is a tenacious litigator in pursuit of her client’s cases.
During her practice in Malaysia, Shamila was attached as a lawyer with Dass, Jainab & Associates, Kuala Lumpur. She was running the Sungai Petani branch of Dass, Jainab & Associates, specializing in defence assignments involving personal injury claims for motor vehicle accidents from various insurance companies based in Kuala Lumpur.
In Brunei, she ran the Insurance Department of Rudi Lee, Annie Kon & Associates in charge of assignments given by National Insurance Company which ranged from mainly defending Industrial Accident and Motor vehicle Claims to advising on assignment given by National Insurance Company including policy advisory.
With her specialization in insurance claim and defence work for the past 21 years, Shamila has full and complete knowledge of the workings and know-how of the needs of insurance companies especially in the area of industrial accident’s claims, road traffic accident claims and carrying out negotiation’s leading to settlement’s in regards claims of industrial accidents and road traffic accident claims. Shamila further provides general advisory to insurance companies with regards to all type of insurance policies.
